|主題:Calcium, ATP, and ROS: a mitochondrial love-hate triangle

|摘要:Since we published our review titled “Calcium, ATP, and ROS: a mitochondrial love-hate triangle” in the American Journal of Physiology: Cell Physiology in 2004 (PMID: 15355853), it has been cited ~ 2,900 times according to Google Scholar. This is indicative that the topic is still of research interest to the general scientific community nowadays. In this seminar, I will update our continuous research on this topic, specifically focusing on the sarcoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria (SR-Mito) communications in adult cardiac muscle cells. I will present that SR-Mito tethering not only controls spatial and temporal aspects of mitochondrial calcium, energetics, and redox dynamics but also mitochondrial health and survival. Finally, I will briefly describe the pathophysiological implications of SR-Mito crosstalk signaling in heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.
